A formula for happiness. A Chinese concept! Greetings from afar. Your thoughts brightened my day as global warming took a spring holiday in Shantou and has left us cool and wet beyond our due. Let me know your current email and I will really bore you with news!

cheers

Happy, hap and happening - all these words sharing the same root. And this connection between luck, chance and occurance, is true for many other languages too. How about Chinese? Are Chinese word for 'happiness' etymologically rather notions for something relative and temporary or for some constant state of mind?
